What United Farmers Market collects (very little), how the newsletter form and optional cookie-free analytics work, and how to have your subscription deleted.

United Farmers Market collects very little. We set no advertising cookies and run no third-party trackers. The newsletter form collects your email address, which form you used, and a timestamp. If analytics is turned on, it is Vercel Analytics, which is cookie-free and reports aggregate page views and a few coarse events with no personal identifiers. We do not sell data. To delete a newsletter subscription, email us.
Who we are
This site is operated by United Farmers Market in the United States, and its content is directed to a U.S. audience. Questions about this policy go to contact@unitedfarmersmarket.com.
Reading the site
You can read every page without creating an account, logging in, or accepting cookies. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, fingerprinting, or social media embeds that track you. The site loads no third-party scripts other than the optional analytics described below.
Our hosting provider processes the requests your browser makes in order to serve pages, as any host does. We do not use hosting logs to identify or profile readers.
Analytics
Analytics is optional and may be turned off. When it is on, we use Vercel Analytics, which does not set cookies and does not assign you a persistent identifier. It gives us aggregate page views and a handful of coarse events:
- A newsletter signup happened, and which form on the site it came from.
- Site search was used, and whether it returned results.
- An outbound link to Local Cottage Foods was clicked, and which module it was in.
- A share button was used, and for which network.
- Which section of the site a reader engaged with.
- Whether an article was read, a recipe was printed, or a resource was used. Calculator inputs are not sent.
None of these events include your email address, your search terms, your IP address, or anything else that identifies you. We use them to learn which guides are useful and which forms work. Search query strings and URL fragments are removed before page-view events are sent. We suppress analytics when your browser requests Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, and during automated browser tests.
Market Dispatch newsletter
When you subscribe to Market Dispatch, the form collects:
- Your email address.
- The signup source, meaning which form on the site you used.
- A timestamp.
The form also includes a hidden field and a timing check to catch bots, and the server applies a coarse rate limit keyed on your IP address to prevent abuse. The rate limit is held briefly in memory and is not stored. Your IP address is not saved with your subscription.
When the newsletter is connected, your email address is stored with our email provider, Resend, so that we can send you the weekly issue. Every email includes an unsubscribe link. We do not use your address for anything other than Market Dispatch, and we do not share, rent, or sell it.
Links to Local Cottage Foods
Links from this site to Local Cottage Foods carry UTM parameters (utm_source, utm_medium, and sometimes utm_content) so that Local Cottage Foods can see that a visit came from United Farmers Market and from which module. These parameters identify the link, not you. Once you are on Local Cottage Foods, its own privacy policy applies. The two sites are related brands built by the same team; see About.
External links
Articles link to government agencies, universities, and other outside sites. We do not control those sites, and their privacy practices are their own.
Email you send us
If you email contact@unitedfarmersmarket.com or contact@unitedfarmersmarket.com, we keep the message so that we can answer it and, for corrections, so that we have a record of what was reported and what we changed. We do not add you to the newsletter because you emailed us.
What we do not do
- We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data.
- We do not set advertising cookies or run third-party trackers.
- We do not build profiles of readers.
- We do not use your email address for anything other than the newsletter you subscribed to.
- We do not require an account to read anything.
Your choices and requests
- Unsubscribe using the link in any issue of Market Dispatch.
- Delete your subscription entirely by emailing contact@unitedfarmersmarket.com from the address you subscribed with. We will remove it from our email provider.
- Ask what we hold about you at the same address. For most readers the answer is nothing; for subscribers it is an email address, a signup source, and a timestamp.
We honor these requests by email regardless of where you live. The site is built for a U.S. audience and we do not operate a formal rights portal under any particular privacy law. If you want your data deleted, email us and we will delete it.
Children
The site is written for adults running or shopping at food businesses. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and the only thing we collect from anyone is a newsletter email address. If a child has subscribed, email us and we will delete the subscription.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, and its security headers restrict which scripts and connections a page can make. Newsletter addresses are held by our email provider under its own security practices. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell subscribers if we learn their addresses were exposed.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, we update the page and its "updated" date. If a change affects what we collect from newsletter subscribers, we will say so in Market Dispatch.
